Hello community members,
The City wanted to reach out to update you on the Short Term Rental project.
On June 16, 2026, Council considered options on how to regulate Short Term Rentals in Revelstoke. Council decided to direct staff to pursue amendments to applicable bylaws that would maintain the existing Short Term Rental regulatory framework, with the following changes:
- Implement a three (3) strike rule where in instances of founded bylaw infractions, Council would consider revoking a license for a prescribed period of time
- Require Short Term Rental and Bed and Breakfast operators to include the approved minimum number of parking spaces they provide as part of any advertising
- Amend City policy to clarify that it is the City’s position to not opt into the Provincial Principal Residence requirement under the Short Term Rental Accommodation Act, and outline a process that must be undertaken should the City decide to consider opting in at a future date
- Amend City policy to stipulate requirements that must be undertaken for future Short Term Rental regulatory review
TalkRevelstoke has been updated. Once amending bylaws / policy are completed, staff will post them to TalkRevelstoke and send out an updated email.
